Almonds are one of the most nutritious and widely used nuts globally. In India people choose almonds over other nuts due to their varied culinary uses and health benefits.
Almonds are available in many forms, such as whole, sliced, and as flour. Almonds yield almond oil and can also be made into almond butter or almond milk. While almonds are often eaten on their own, raw or toasted, they are also used in various dishes in their various forms as discussed above.
Kashmiris specifically use almonds in Kahwa, a traditional green tea preparation. The tea is prepared by boiling Kahwa tea leaves with saffron strands, cinnamon bark and cardamom pods. Generally, it is served with sugar or honey and crushed nuts, usually almonds or walnuts.
